"Embers of Change: Celebrating Kerala Renaissance" - JWALA
"ഒരു ജാതി, ഒരു മതം, ഒരു ദൈവം മനുഷ്യന്" - Sree Narayana Guru
On January 15, 2025, at 2:30 pm, the our Physical Science Subject Association, Aurora , ignited the flames of nostalgia and pride as we celebrated Kerala Piravi through our program "Jwala". This cultural extravaganza was a tribute to the Kerala Renaissance, a pivotal moment in the state's history that paved the way for social reform and progress.
The program commenced with a thought-provoking skit on the life and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, a pioneering social reformer. The artists' powerful performances brought to life the guru's message of equality and justice.
Next, a mesmerizing mime act on Parvathy Nenmenimangalam, a trailblazing woman who fought against social injustices, left the audience spellbound. The tableaus that followed, depicting the lives of Ayyankali, V.T. Bhattathiripad, Mannath Padmanabhan, and Chavarayachan, were a testament to the tireless efforts of these visionaries who shaped Kerala's history.
The poetry recitation session was a highlight of the program, with soul-stirring renditions of "Duravastha", and "Chandalabhikshuki". These timeless classics echoed the sentiments of the Kerala Renaissance, inspiring the audience to reflect on the power of collective action.
As the anchor of the program, I was honored to play a part in bringing this vibrant celebration to life. From behind-the-scenes preparations to on-stage performances, it was a truly collaborative effort that showcased the talent and dedication of our students and faculty.
"Jwala" was more than just a cultural program – it was a testament to the enduring spirit of the Kerala Renaissance. As we celebrate our state's rich history, we are reminded of the importance of embracing progress, equality, and justice.
