“Week 7 Phase 2 (24/11/25 to 28/11/25): Where Teaching, Learning, and Goodbyes Came Together”

“Teaching is a journey where every lesson shapes not just the students, but the teacher too.”

Week 7 of my Phase 2 teaching practice at GMGHS Thevally was a remarkable blend of academic focus, innovative teaching experiences, responsibilities beyond the classroom, and deep emotional reflections. As the Christmas exam drew closer, the week demanded effective revision strategies, diagnostic assessments, and meaningful consolidation of concepts across classes. Alongside teaching, I also became part of school events such as health check-ups, educational visits, and my last PT duty. The emotional weight of this week was undeniable because it marked the final stretch of my entire B.Ed teaching practice journey — a phase that shaped my growth as a teacher in countless ways.

 Day 29 – 24/11/25 - Monday

The day began with three scheduled periods in 8B Chemistry, 9B Physics, and 9A Physics. My first hour in 8B was fully dedicated to revision. I revisited all the major topics I had taught and emphasised important points expected in the Christmas exam. To strengthen their preparation, I also included application-level questions from Metals and Non-metals, reinforcing the concepts they had learned during Phase 1. The session remained interactive and productive.
In the third hour at 9B, I delivered my innovative lesson plan on Variation of g. The models — the geoid-shaped Earth, the solar system, the jump-on-moon model, and the altitude/depth variation model — transformed abstract concepts into visual memories for the students. They enthusiastically explored the idea that 'g' depends on both mass and radius, and they could easily differentiate the values of g across planets and on the Moon. This class left me deeply satisfied as a teacher, seeing how concrete models enhanced their understanding.
My last period was at 9A, where I taught Negative Work. Using slides, visuals, and relatable real-life situations helped the students draw clear distinctions between positive and negative work. With examples and photo-based tasks, they confidently classified scenarios correctly.
This day strengthened my belief in multimodal teaching — that revision, models, and real-life applications together make concepts stronger and more memorable.

Day 30 – 25/11/25 - Tuesday

I initially had only one period scheduled for the day, but it was cancelled as the 8th standard students were taken for a Milma visit. Still, I came prepared with previous-year questions for both grades.
The morning began with a school-wide health checkup, and I helped coordinate the camp for the first three hours. Later, during the 4th period, I received a substitution at 9B where I conducted a diagnostic test on Universal Law of Gravitation and Circular Motion using ICT. The students attempted the questions seriously, giving me clear insights into their learning gaps.
In the afternoon, we (8 trainees and a teacher) accompanied 46 students to the Milma factory as part of national Milk Week. The visit offered students firsthand knowledge about milk collection, processing, and packaging. Their curiosity and excitement made the experience even more joyful. I ensured their discipline and safety throughout the trip.
Returning to school, I evaluated the diagnostic papers, prepared the diagnostic chart, and noted individual learning difficulties. I also curated videos and developed pattern-based methods to use as remedies.
This day highlighted how teachers play multiple roles — instructor, organiser, guide, caregiver, evaluator — all in one.

Day 31 – 26/11/25 - Wednesday

On Day 31, I had one planned period in 9B Physics. After attending the Anti-Drug pledge assembly, I went to the class to give the diagnostic remedies I had prepared. Using animated videos and a simple mathematical pattern method, I guided the students through the five questions they had struggled with previously. Solving problems step-by-step on the blackboard helped them clearly follow the logic and apply the pattern to new questions.
During the free hours, I completed my reflective journal, got my records sealed, and organised all required documentation.
This day reassured me that continuous assessment and timely remediation are essential components of effective teaching.

 Day 32 - 27/11/25 - Thursday

Day 32 involved two periods — 1st hour in 9B Physics and 6th hour in 9A Physics. As instructed by Uma teacher, I handled previous-year question discussions for Christmas exam preparation. I had thoroughly practised the questions beforehand, and this helped me guide the students confidently through each one.
In both classes, I made the students recall relevant equations, apply them systematically, and interpret the concepts behind each answer. Every question became an opportunity to revisit and consolidate the entire chapter once again. During the session, PT Sir Biju observed some classes jointly as exam days were nearing.
Revisiting past question papers proved to be an effective revision strategy, reinforcing continuity and strengthening students’ exam confidence.

 Day 33 – 28/11/25 - Friday

Day 33 was the most emotional and unforgettable day of this journey — the last day of my Phase 2 teaching practice and of my entire B.Ed course. I had one PT duty in the 6th hour for 8B, and I had planned simple games to enjoy the time with them one last time.
After the morning assembly, I organised all my works, got them sealed, and cleared my materials from the school and lab. During the second period, I went to my college with permission for a demonstration class for my juniors, where I taught the pH Scale. By the third period’s end, I returned to school, served the midday meal, and completed my last PT class.
After the regular timetable, the school organised a small farewell function for us. Teachers appreciated our efforts, congratulated us, and wished us a bright future. I clicked photos with students, teachers, and staff, cherishing the last moments. With my final attendance signature, my teaching practice officially came to an end.
This day was a gentle reminder that teaching is not just about lessons — it is about relationships, memories, shared experiences, and growth.

Week 7 brought together revision, diagnosis, remediation, innovative teaching, excursions, responsibilities, and heartfelt goodbyes — rounding off my teaching practice with meaning and fulfilment. This week helped me understand the depth of a teacher’s role in shaping learning and supporting students holistically. As I closed my attendance register for the last time, I carried with me gratitude, confidence, and a stronger commitment to becoming the kind of teacher who inspires and uplifts.
