"BEHIND THE SCENES: FACILITATING A SEAMLESS COMMISSION DAY"
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." - Helen Keller
On February 14, 2025, I had the opportunity to be part of the team that facilitated Commission Day at our college. This critical evaluation process, which is an integral part of the B.Ed curriculum, involves external examiners assessing our teaching skills, lesson plans, and student engagement.
As part of my duties, I was responsible for escorting high school students from their classes and ensuring their safe return to school. I also guided the physical science invigilator to the respective classes for observation. Although my roles may have seemed minor, I understood the importance of ensuring that everything ran smoothly and efficiently.
Throughout the day, I witnessed the dedication and hard work of our seniors, who were being evaluated. Their efforts to prepare for this day were evident, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for their perseverance. Our college staff also played a vital role in ensuring the success of Commission Day. From coordinating logistics to providing support to the external examiners, their efforts were invaluable.
As I watched the Commission Day unfold, I was reminded that I will be facing this same evaluation next year. It was a sobering thought, but also a motivating one. Seeing the efforts of our seniors and the support of our staff has inspired me to work harder and prepare more thoroughly for my own Commission Day.
Facilitating Commission Day was an invaluable experience that taught me the importance of teamwork, communication, and attention to detail. It also gave me a glimpse into the amount of planning and effort that goes into making such events successful.
As I reflect on this experience, I am reminded that even the smallest roles can make a significant impact when carried out with commitment and enthusiasm. I look forward to being part of more events like this in the future.
