CELEBRATING WORLD WATER DAY: AURORA'S INITIATIVE FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
"Water is the driving force of all nature." - Leonardo da Vinci
On March 28, 2025, the Physical Science Association AURORA of KUCTE Kollam celebrated World Water Day with a thought-provoking program. As a proud member of AURORA, I had the privilege of anchoring the event, coordinating the activities, and participating in various performances.
The program commenced with a welcome speech by Haripriya, followed by a poignant water day speech by Namitha. The highlight of the event was a skit that depicted the present situation of Kerala, oscillating between drought and flood. I had the opportunity to dub for the skit, which added an extra layer of emotional depth to the performance.
Midhula's soulful song and our fusion dance program, which included individual and group performances, mesmerized the audience. The energy was palpable, and the crowd was thoroughly entertained.
To drive home the importance of water conservation, we organized a game where participants had to wash laboratory equipment using the minimum amount of water. English Optional won the game, with Kochu Miss and Sini Miss serving as judges.
The grand finale was a powerful mime performance that underscored the significance of water conservation. I was part of the mime team, and it was a moving experience to convey the message without words.
One of the most significant aspects of our World Water Day celebration was the launch of our new initiative, Jeevamrutham. We placed pots of water for birds, symbolizing our commitment to conservation and sustainability. Our principal, Dr. Lethadevi Amma Teacher, inaugurated the initiative, emphasizing the importance of protecting our planet's precious resources.
As I reflect on the experience, I am filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. The program was a huge success, and we received appreciation from students, teachers, and faculties alike. It was a team effort, and I am grateful to have been a part of it.
