NURTURING RESPONSIBLE PARENTING: A STEP TOWARDS A BETTER TOMORROW

"Teachers are not just educators, they are the second parents, shaping young minds and guiding them towards a brighter future."
On April 2, 2025, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of KUCTE, Thevally, organized an enlightening awareness program on Responsible Parenting. The session, led by Jacob Jarom, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, was a treasure trove of valuable insights and practical tips on effective parenting.

One of the key points that resonated with me was the importance of "listening to children." Jacob Jarom emphasized that listening is not just about hearing words, but also about paying attention to non-verbal cues, such as body language and tone of voice.

Sir also highlighted the significance of this class by emphasizing that teachers (TRS) are the second parents to their students. As educators, we play a vital role in shaping young minds and influencing their behavior.

As a student, I was deeply engrossed in the 2-hour session, which covered 10 crucial points for good parenting. Jacob Jarom's expertise and experience shone through as he shared real-life examples and anecdotes to drive home each point.

What struck a chord with me was the relevance of this program in today's world. With the rising incidence of criminal cases, it's essential to address the root causes of social issues. As I shared my feedback during the session, I emphasized the need for such programs, which can help prevent social problems rather than just discussing their symptoms.

It's heartening to see institutions like KUCTE taking proactive steps to promote responsible parenting. As future educators, we must recognize the importance of shaping young minds and fostering a supportive environment that encourages healthy growth and development.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to attend this enlightening program and look forward to applying the learnings in my personal and professional life.
