WEEK 2"EMBRACING THE JOURNEY OF TEACHING: MY EXPERIENCE IN B.ED TEACHING PRACTICE - WEEK2 ( 21/07/2025 TO 26/07/2025)"

"Teaching is not a profession, it's a passion."

This 2nd week was filled with exciting experiences, challenges, and learning opportunities. From celebrating Chandradinam to conducting seminars and classes, every day brought something new and valuable.

Day 6 - July 21, 2025- Monday
 (Chandradinam)
Day 6 of my teaching practice was filled with excitement and challenges as we led the celebration programs for Chandradinam in school. We arrived early to ensure all preparations were set for the special assembly, despite some confusion among students due to an educational strike on the previous Friday. We managed to cope with the challenges and conducted a successful special assembly themed around Chandradinam. Students of 9A performed perfectly according to our instructions, conducting a quiz related to Chandradinam and awarding the winners with a munch. Posters prepared by us and the students were showcased. A planned school-level quiz competition was postponed to the next day due to multiple absentees among class-level winners. After the assembly, we displayed the posters on the school's front board and added a caption chart for students to express their thoughts on "if I ever go to the moon, I will...." We also conducted a seminar on Chandradinam, moon missions of India, and motivating students towards space careers for students of 9A, 9B, 8A, and 8B. I led the third part of the seminar, doing my best to create good motivation among the participants. Alongside the celebrations, I had two periods - a substitution in the 5th period for 9A physics (where I taught distance and displacement with ICT resources) and a regular 6th period for 8B chemistry with a 5E lesson plan on earlier attempts for classification of elements. Both lessons went smoothly, with students actively participating and me ensuring they understood the mathematical-based physics chapter and the theoretical chemistry lesson. Overall, it was a productive day balancing celebrations and regular teaching duties.

Day 7 - July 23,2025 - Wednesday
Today was a busy day with classes and a school-level quiz competition. I had a Concept Attainment Model (CAM) lesson plan prepared for my 9B physics class, which went smoothly. The students grasped the concept of uniform and non-uniform velocity well, and I was happy to see them consolidate their understanding through the examples provided. Although I had only one class, I was prepared for potential substitutions, showcasing my readiness to adapt. The school-level quiz competition was conducted during the 3rd period, where 12 participants from classes 8, 9, and 10 competed. After a tough competition, Sayrah from class 9A and Gouri from class 9B emerged as the first and second prize winners, respectively.
Additionally, my psychology teacher, SINIMOL MISS observed my class and provided valuable feedback, which was incredibly helpful. I arranged a class with 8B during the 6th period, using an atom model set to teach Mendeleev's periodic law and chemical formulas of molecules. The class was a huge success, with students showing high interest and participation. Sinimol had gave me valuable suggestions for improvement and appreciation for good work which boosted my confidence.

Day 8: July 25,2025 - Friday
Today was a bit challenging, but I managed to set up the Chandradinam student magazine, "Chandraquest," with the help of my co-trainees. We collected and arranged articles from students, and finally submitted it to our concerned Physical Science teacher, Uma Miss. We also arranged prizes for the winners of the Chandradinam quiz.

During the 5th period, I had my PT duty in 8B class, where I supervised the students during their physical training session. Later, I got a substitution period for 8B, where I taught chemical formulas of compounds and chemical reactions. Although the period was short due to the early dismissal time on Fridays, I utilized the time effectively and almost completed the lesson plan. The students were engaged, but I realized they needed more practice to clarify their doubts regarding atomicity, number of atoms, and number of molecules, so i am planning to create an additional lesson plan.

Day 9: July 26,2025 - Saturday
It was my birthday, and I was grateful to have a chance to teach and enjoy the day as a teacher. I had a physics class with 9B, where we covered the topic of acceleration. I used prepared slides and gave homework assignments to reinforce their understanding. As the chapter is problem-based, I believe that repeated practice is key to achieving success. I also took some time to review negative numbers division and addition, which some students found challenging. Despite the difficulties, I managed to guide them through the exercises.

This week was a rollercoaster of emotions, challenges, and learning experiences. I'm grateful for the opportunity to practice teaching and reflect on my experiences. I'm looking forward to the next week and continuing to grow as a teacher.
