"Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence."
- Abigail Adams

As I reflect on the past week of my teaching practice, I am filled with a mix of emotions - pride, gratitude, and a sense of accomplishment. From engaging students with innovative teaching methods to conducting remedial classes and participating in extracurricular activities, this week has been a true test of my skills and dedication as a teacher. In this blog, I will share my experiences from Days 20 to 24 of my teaching practice, highlighting the challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned along the way.

Day 20 - 11th August 2025 - Monday
A Day of Engagement and Remediation
On Day 20 of my teaching practice, I had the opportunity to engage with my students in various ways. In a combined substitution class for 9A and 9B, I taught the concept of inertia at rest and motion, using ICT and real-life examples to facilitate understanding. The students demonstrated a clear grasp of the concept, and I was impressed by their ability to formulate examples of inertia. Later, I conducted a remedial class for 8B chemistry, using a game-based approach to address common misconceptions in chemical formulas. The activity was a hit, and students enjoyed forming molecules using element symbol cards. In my scheduled classes, I taught equations of motion to 9A, focusing on problem-solving strategies and selecting the appropriate equations. With Onam exams approaching, I am planning to conduct revision classes to help students reinforce their understanding and tackle more complex problems. The day was a great example of effective teaching, remediation, and student engagement. Additionally, the B.Ed trainees' flash mob dance performance during the afternoon break was a fun way to announce our upcoming special assembly, and it got the students excited and energized.

Day 21- 12th August 2025- Tuesday (International Youth day)
Today marked the 21st day of my teaching practice, and it was a day overflowing with a mix of excitement, responsibility, and a deep sense of fulfillment. As part of celebrating International Youth Day, our trainee group took charge of conducting the school assembly, and I was privileged to be the anchor. Dressed in traditional sarees, we infused the assembly with vibrant energy, incorporating a quiz, thought-provoking quotes, news updates, and a beautiful poem that resonated with everyone. My speech on International Youth Day allowed me to connect with my peers and students on a deeper level, and the overwhelming appreciation we received from both teachers and students was truly heartwarming. Later, in my 6th-hour Chemistry class with 8B, I conducted a comprehensive revision session, meticulously solving questions from key chapters to help students grasp the concepts better. Witnessing their confidence grow as they understood the material was incredibly satisfying. The 7th hour brought a different kind of responsibility as I oversaw the PT duty for class 9A, giving them some much-needed free time to unwind and relax amidst the exam stress. Watching them play, talk, or simply sit in silence, reminded me of the importance of balancing academics with leisure and relaxation in school life. As the day drew to a close, I spent my free time checking notebooks, preparing for upcoming classes, and writing lesson plans, feeling fulfilled and content knowing that every task completed was a step closer to becoming a better educator. It was a day filled with learning, growth, and meaningful interactions, leaving me with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude for the experiences that came my way.

Day 22- 13th August 2025- Wednesday
Today, the 22nd day of my teaching practice, was a day of valuable learning and challenges. When I arrived at school, I was informed that my first-hour Physics class with 9B had been rescheduled to the 6th hour, which I adapted to seamlessly. In the 6th hour, I introduced a model question paper for the Onam exam to my 9B students, and we dove into a detailed discussion. Although they had been instructed to study the chapter on equations of motion, seeing the question paper for the first time brought a mix of excitement and apprehension. As we worked through the questions, I noticed many students struggling with mathematical problem-solving, particularly with interpreting values from the questions and applying the correct equations. It was heartening to see them tackle conceptual questions confidently, but the mathematical problems posed a greater challenge. I made a conscious effort to guide them, emphasizing the importance of carefully reading the questions and identifying the right values and equations to use. Despite my best efforts, I could sense the need for more revisions to solidify their understanding. The same challenges arose during my substitution class with 9A in the 8th hour, reinforcing the importance of practice and clarity in teaching mathematical concepts. Reflecting on the day, I'm reminded of the patience and persistence required in teaching, and I'm committed to providing the necessary support to help my students overcome their difficulties.

Day 23 -14th August 2025-Thursday
Today, the 23rd day of my teaching practice, was a day packed with a mix of academic rigor and extracurricular excitement. The day started with a revision session for the Onam exam, where I worked closely with 9B on their Physics syllabus, focusing on model questions from the SCERT publication. In my classes, I noticed that while many students had a good grasp of the concepts, they struggled with interpreting and applying them correctly in questions, especially in chapters like equations of motion and laws of motion. I made a conscious effort to guide them through each question, encouraging them to read the problems carefully and identify the key values and equations needed to solve them. It was heartening to see their eagerness to learn and their confidence in answering questions, and I was happy to provide individual attention to those who needed it. I did the same in 9A at 6th hr. The day took an interesting turn when the school parliament election was held at 10:30 am, and I had the privilege of overseeing the process in 9B. Witnessing the students conduct the election with such maturity and enthusiasm was a joy to behold. They truly embodied the spirit of democracy, and it was wonderful to see them putting their knowledge of the subject into practice. I stepped in only when necessary, allowing them to take charge and make decisions. Jenny from 9B emerged as the class leader, and I couldn't be prouder of her and her peers. After the election, I had the task of preparing placards for tomorrow's Independence Day celebration, which was a creative outlet amidst the busy schedule. Cutting charts and pasting them was a simple yet satisfying task that gave me a sense of accomplishment. After this we the trainees coordinated independence day quiz in the afternoon. The day concluded with a dance practice for the upcoming program, which we trainees are organizing. As I reflected on the day's events, I felt a deep sense of fulfillment, knowing that I played a small part in shaping these young minds and contributing to the vibrant school community. Despite the challenges, the day was filled with moments of joy, learning, and growth, and I'm grateful for the experiences that came my way.

August 15,2025 - Friday - INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS
August 15, 2025, was a day of immense pride and patriotism as our school celebrated Independence Day with great fervor and enthusiasm. As trainees, we reached the school by 8:15 am, eager to contribute to the festivities. We decorated the school, made arrangements, and helped the students get dressed in their vibrant attire, buzzing with excitement. At 9:00 am, the ceremony began with our principal, Baby Chithra Teacher, hoisting the national flag, followed by a student rally that marched through the streets, culminating near the Anandavaleeshwaram Temple. The highlight of the rally was a powerful skit on drug abuse performed by the students, which conveyed a significant message. Back at school, the students were treated to sweets, and the celebrations continued with a series of captivating performances, including mass drills, dances, group songs, and a flash mob. We trainees also showcased our dancing skills, adding to the festive atmosphere. The event was filled with energy and spirit, and we received overwhelming appreciation from everyone. As the program concluded with a photoshoot ceremony by 12:30 pm, we felt a deep sense of fulfillment and joy, knowing that we had played a part in making this day special for the students and the school. The celebration was a beautiful blend of patriotism, creativity, and camaraderie, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

Day 24 - 16th August 2025 - Saturday
Today, the 24th day of my teaching practice, marked the culmination of our class time at the school before the Onam vacation, and it felt both nostalgic and fulfilling. Despite it being a Saturday, the school was buzzing with activity as we prepared for the upcoming Onam exams. As per the Friday timetable, I had one final period with 8B in the 6th hour, which I dedicated to revising the model questions and wrapping up the Onam portions. It was a moment to impart not just academic clarity but also to boost their confidence and motivation as they headed into their exams. I wished them all the best, hoping that their hard work would pay off. Throughout the day, I also managed to complete my administrative tasks, including lesson planning, updating my reflective journal, and working on my blog. I took the opportunity to finish checking the rest of the notebooks, bringing a sense of closure to my responsibilities. As I reflected on the past few weeks, I felt a mix of emotions – pride in the progress we had made, gratitude for the experiences, and a tinge of sadness knowing that I would miss the students and the school community after the next weeks onam exam duties. Yet, I look forward to recharging during the Onam vacation and returning with renewed energy and ideas. Today was a fitting conclusion to the classes of my teaching practice before onam, and I'm eager to see what the future holds.

As I conclude this week's blog, I am reminded of the immense responsibility and privilege that comes with being a teacher. This week has been a journey of growth, learning, and self-discovery, and I am grateful for the experiences that have shaped me into a more confident and compassionate educator. As I look forward to the onam exam duties, Onam vacation and the opportunities that lie ahead, I am eager to recharge, reflect, and return to my teaching practice with renewed energy and purpose.
